Lure Maker Bio

Tsutomu Lures

Garrett Lee is a Hawaii lure maker known for building proven Hawaiian trolling lures for ahi fishing, tuna fishing, marlin trolling, and offshore big game fishing. Founded in 2010 in Honolulu, Tsutomu Lures has earned a strong place in the offshore lure market through tournament-winning designs and clean handmade resin work. Big Game Lures Hawaii carries new and pre-owned Tsutomu lures and ships worldwide.

About Garrett Lee and Tsutomu Lures

Garrett Lee founded Tsutomu Lures in 2010 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He learned the craft from his uncle Mike Lee and was influenced by Dennis Odagiri. Lee builds from real Hawaii fishing roots, working with a mix of old and new resins and pouring lures by hand.

Tsutomu lures are recognized for fish inserts, clean resin work, and trolling lure designs made to run for ahi, ono, mahi, and blue marlin. Lee specializes in reverse-tapered bullets and inverted shapes designed specifically for yellowfin tuna. He also produces a 12-inch scoop built for marlin.

Tsutomu Lure Heads and Signature Shapes

Tsutomu Lures is best known for the following head shapes and models:

  • Moke Bullet — Tsutomu's signature shape. A reverse-tapered bullet designed for yellowfin tuna. Produced major Ahi Fever Fishing Tournament wins, including ahi over 200 pounds.
  • 12-Inch Scoop — A larger head built for blue marlin trolling.
  • Reverse-Tapered Bullets — Inverted taper shapes that track and hold in the water on ahi spreads.

Notable Catches and Tournament Results

Tsutomu lures have produced verified catches including ahi in the 255 to 300 pound range and two blue marlin over 1,000 pounds. The Moke Bullet has multiple Ahi Fever Fishing Tournament wins to its name, including ahi over 200 pounds.

Collecting Tsutomu Lures

Garrett Lee's production volume is limited. Tsutomu lures are handmade in small batches, and Lee has noted the difficulty of scaling manufacturing while maintaining quality. Low production numbers and proven tournament results make Tsutomu lures harder to find on the secondary market.
