Dennis Braid, founder of Braid Products, was a respected name in offshore big game fishing tackle. Originally from New South Wales, Australia, Braid came to the United States in 1971 and later began making fishing lures in his garage. That small operation grew into Braid Products, a globally recognized tackle brand known for heavy-duty stand-up fishing belts, fighting harnesses, offshore trolling lures, and big game fishing gear.

Braid Products became especially associated with stand-up big game fishing, where strength, comfort, and reliability matter during long fights with powerful pelagic species. His tackle was used by anglers targeting blue marlin, black marlin, striped marlin, yellowfin tuna, swordfish, and giant bluefin tuna in major offshore fishing destinations including Mexico, Panama, and Prince Edward Island.
