In November 2003 Captain Bomboy Llanes was in the Firecracker Open Kona Fishing Tournament. November is not known as marlin season in Kona. However his medium Locknutt caught the attention of a big fish. It took 9 grueling hours to boat the fish. It was so big it set the record for the largest blue marlin ever caught in a tournament. This record still holds true today, nearly 20 years later!
