This lure was purchased directly from a family member and came from Cpt Rick Rose's private collection. 

Lure Maker Bio

Rick Rose, a legendary figure in Hawaii's fishing and lure-making community, crafted his signature medium plungers in Kona during the late 1980s and 1990s.  Rick’s lures were initially made for local captains and friends.

He was part of a generation of iconic makers during the golden age of Hawaii sport fishing.   

Rick Rose was also a renowned fisherman. He caught a monster blue marlin weighing 1,711 pounds and recorded two species previously thought to be extinct. His legacy in both lure-making and fishing remains strong.

Rick’s custom lures are rare finds, especially those in pristine condition. The Rick Rose plunger is now a coveted collector's item. Fishing with one connects you to a piece of fishing history and the craftsmanship that shaped the sport.
