This Bomboy Mini Bomb is Bomboy Llanes' smallest offshore trolling lure and a favorite for the stinger position. Handmade in Kona, Hawaii, it is designed for targeting ahi tuna, yellowfin tuna, mahi-mahi, marlin and other pelagic game fish.
This lure is new but has a small cosmetic bubble on the surface. The price reflects the condition. It remains fully fishable.
Bomboy regularly fishes the Mini Bomb in his own trolling pattern. Its finished size can also be adjusted depending on how the skirts are trimmed.
Bomboy says: “It can be a 9, 8, 7, 6 or 5 inch lure. It’s all on where you cut the skirts.”
Bomboy Lures are handmade one at a time in Kona, Hawaii by Capt. Bomboy Llanes, a third-generation Kona big-game fisherman, tournament-winning captain and two-time grander marlin catcher.
Both of Bomboy's grander marlin were caught on lures he made himself. He designs his lures for his own fishing and has been making and fishing offshore trolling lures for more than 50 years.
Bomboy learned lure making as a child from his father, Capt. Kenny Llanes, another successful Kona tournament captain. The Llanes family has deep roots in the history of Kona big-game fishing and Hawaiian lure making.
Fun fact: Bomboy remembers that while other kids were outside playing, he was often stuck polishing lures for his dad.
