Captain Cyrus Widhalm most notable accomplishment to date is being at the helm of the Apex and catching the wining marlin of the 2023 Blue Marlin World Cup Winner & Big Blue Challenge. The marlin was caught on his 14" Kraken World Cup, formerly known as the Banshee.
He grew up in Kona and learned sport fishing from legendary captains. After working as a deck and and captain, he now owns his own sport fishing company, Kraken Fish Co. Cpt Cyrus runs 2 boats the Kraken and the Apex. On July 4th, 2023 the crew of the Apex brought the World Cup back to Kona with an 834.5 pound marlin.
It only took the Apex team only 11 minutes from the start of the tournament to hook up the winning fish. (Yes Kona waters get deep quick). All the lures in the spread were Kraken Lures.
